'Adonis' 8 book series to start development early 2028

Adonis is the upcoming urban-style eight-book, character-driven and drama mega dark reboot of the original Retroboy and Retroman superhero story, reimagined for the expanding Glenwood universe. The original series began as a middle school composition-book project about Adonis Anderson, a retro-loving young boy from Dogtown who discovered a cosmic meteorite after it crashed into Dogtown playground on a summer night. Gifted with powers over fire and electricity, Adonis became Retroboy, a young hero forced to face danger, friendship, loyalty, sacrifice, and the growing burden of protecting his town. By the fourth book, he evolved into Retroman, a darker, older version of himself who went from saving Dogtown to facing threats that could endanger the world.

The rebooted Adonis series keeps the heart of that original journey while giving Retroman a more mature and intense origin story. In this version, Adonis Anderson is no longer a child when destiny finds him. He is thirty-one years old, newly released from prison, and trying to return to Dogtown with the hope of living a normal life. But Dogtown is not an easy place to escape from. Surrounded by poverty, gang crime, drug-related chaos, and the dangerous pull of his old environment, Adonis is a man fighting to prove that his past does not have to define his future.

One late night on Honey Brick Ave, Adonis witnesses a bright object falling from the sky. When he follows the crash site, he discovers a cosmic meteorite filled with mysterious energy. After coming into contact with it, Adonis begins developing superhuman abilities that grow over time, including telekinesis, teleportation, super strength, cosmic energy, and the power to manipulate fire and electricity. What begins as fear and confusion soon becomes something much bigger: a test of who Adonis really is when power enters his life at the exact moment he is trying to become better.

In the Glenwood reboot universe, superhumans are already known to exist from conspiracies which makes Adonis’ transformation even more complicated. He cannot hide behind myth or secrecy forever. His powers create barriers between the normal life he wants and the dangerous reality closing in around him. As threats rise in Dogtown, Adonis is pulled between two paths: using his abilities to protect the people who need him, or letting his pain, anger, and environment influence him into using those powers for the wrong reasons.

At the center of the series is Adonis’ promise to his family: that he will do good for the rest of his life. That promise becomes his anchor as he struggles with redemption, identity, survival, and temptation. The first book will focus on Adonis gaining his powers, trying to find himself, and facing dangerous threats in Dogtown. From there, each book will evolve the story further as Adonis moves closer to becoming Retroman and the stakes expand beyond the streets that shaped him.

The Adonis series is in phase 2 of the Glenwood franchise roadmap of 2027-2030, which gives the story time to grow before its full development process begins in early 2028. This early development period will allow the series to be carefully shaped, from Adonis’ updated origin and character arc to Dogtown’s role, the rules of his powers, the larger Glenwood universe connections, and the emotional journey that transforms him from a man seeking a second chance into the hero known as Retroman.

For new readers, Adonis is a darker superhero origin story about a former prisoner from Dogtown who gains cosmic powers and must decide what kind of man he wants to become. It honors the original Retroboy and Retroman stories while introducing a fresh, more grounded version of Adonis Anderson for the rebooted Glenwood universe. This series will follow the same tone as the Glenwood main series with genres mix of crime-thriller, suspense, fantasy, supernatural, and action-packed adventures.
