The Glenwood franchise is currently revisiting its origins through a compelling series of prequel books that delve into the youthful years of the safari crew, the iconic group of friends central to the series. These prequels are celebrated for their vivid storytelling, blending real-life themes and imaginative fiction to explore the wild backstories and formative experiences that ultimately shaped the characters readers have come to know. The reboot of the franchise begins with Camp Glenwood, a pivotal horror book that reveals the emergence of the crew’s heroic qualities and marks the beginning of their unity, solidarity, and loyalty—core values that define the group and have become a hallmark of the series. Together, these prequels create a rich tapestry of narrative, bringing the franchise full circle by connecting the past with the present storyline.
As the franchise moves forward, attention shifts back to the present timeline, where Glenwood X: Vol 3 acts as a climactic conclusion to the previous arcs involving the safari crew and the perilous events that have threatened their city. However, the resolution is short-lived, as a new imminent danger starts to surface, prompting the crew to reunite for another high-stakes adventure. This leads to the upcoming release, The Glenwood Massacre, which is set after the events of Glenwood X: Vol 3 and promises to bring together the safari crew one final time. The Glenwood Massacre is anticipated to be the definitive end for these beloved characters and their stories, marking the close of an era for the franchise.
While the safari crew’s journey draws close, the narrative will continue through the character Koi, who is slated for a solo book that will serve as the concluding chapter of his story within the Glenwood universe. Looking ahead, the franchise is set to evolve further with the introduction of a new Glenwood series in 2027, which will center on a fresh group of legacy characters, shifting the focus away from the original safari crew. With the crew now adults seeking peace and closure, I’m going to reflects on the need to move on from these characters who have become synonymous with the new era of Glenwood books.
The upcoming Glenwood: Last Class is scheduled for release in spring 2026, followed by Glenwood: In Too Deep, summer 2026. The Glenwood Massacre, expected to be published in the fall of 2026, will serve as the final installment for the year, closing the chapter on the safari crew and setting the stage for future stories featuring new characters and legacies.
